This suggests Malice belongs to a different class of supernatural creature than most others in the series. It enjoys toying with the lives of Haru and Yui, turning their strong bond against them. In contrast to most other spirits, which are more primal and vengeful, this makes Malice a uniquely sadistic and intelligent antagonist. Once the final boss is reached, it is made manifest those "tutorial messages" were the voice of the gigantic malevolent spirit. There, Haru can defy the tutorial that drives her to follow Yui's fate, and the previously neutral and formal tutorial takes on a sinister, psychotic tone.
